THE ASK As you consider charities to support this year, we would like to ask you to become an Arts In Common seed capital sponsor.
Inspired by the vision of developing decommissioned schools located on one of the oldest village green in New England into an arts and culture district, Arts in Common believes that a revitalized commons will provide Bristol the imagination and energy to transform the buildings and the 17th century common into a dynamic 21st century space for creative civic life.
OUR GOAL Create a 21st Century Commons as the heart of a local arts and culture sector that catalyzes economic vitality by creating a supportive environment where artists and people in the arts economy can live, work and play. Just a year old, we have our 501c3, and are already a collaboration 100+ local artists, arts organizations, businesses and community residents with the full support of the Town of Bristol and Roger Williams University.
In 2017, we are focusing our efforts to create both a Physical Commons and a Digital Commons — repurposing common buildings as well as leveraging innovative technology and business best practices to create a digital infrastructure for regional arts and culture collaboration, access and engagement.
PHYSICAL COMMONS Already in place is a fully sustainable transformation plan to redevelop/ rehab/reuse the decommissioned Walley school on Bristol Common.
DIGITAL COMMONS In development is a scalable arts network to foster digital and mobile platforms to support and amplify engagement.
Last year we were 100% funded by our leadership and volunteers. For our second year, we seek to raise $50,000 to cover operational costs and digital infrastructure investments. Can you help?
Thank you in advance for your consideration and generosity — we guarantee every dollar will be put toward the realization of Bristol’s 21st Century Commons.
